NOTD- Twisted Silk

I promised you a NOTD from the nail polish I received in May's Glossybox and here it is!!

This is a gorgeous pink/ almost lilac, a lovely spring time colour.  It is noticeable but not in your face.  The picture I have attached is two coats on top of a base coat, but one coat is enough to be opaque, I have not yet applied a top coat in the picture.

I have never heard of Headline Colours before, so it was nice to try a new brand, I really love this polish and it wears quite well too, I have had this on for three days now, hands in and out the washing bowl, showers etc, so its doing pretty well, I'm impressed!!

I look forward to trying more from this brand soon!!

Glossybox May 2013 [My first box!]

GOOD MORNING BEAUTY LOVERS!!!  I was awoken to to sound of my doorbell at 9.30am this morning, knowing it was my FIRST EVER Glossybox I was out of bed like a shot ....It took me a good few minute to open the door though as we have Fort Knox'ed it, I was worried she would leave, but she didn't, yay!!

I know I am a bit late to the party with this, as the usual subscribers got theirs ages ago, though I only signed up for May's box after everyone had received theirs, so I have had plenty of time to snoop around and see what everyone got in theirs this time, but I'm not doing that again, its going to be a secret from now on!!
With this being my first box, I was going to photograph as I open it but I was just too excited, so I've peeked and then took pics, sorry!
So on to the box, I think I joined at a good time, to get in on their 2nd birthday, there has been quite a bit of negativity surrounding this box I have noticed, but I am quite happy with what I received....

  1. Caudalie Divine Oil
  2. L'Occitane En Provence Angelica Hydration Cream
  3. Beautiful Movements Cosmetics Prime & Create Mixing Medium
  4. Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes Mascara
  5. Headline Colours Poolside Party Nail Polish in Twisted Silk
  6. Glossybox Nail Files
Maybe I just havent been around long enough yet to understand the issues here?  I am super happy with the Caudalie oil, a brand I have been wanting to try for a long time, but never seen it on the shelves.  I have read and heard so so much hype about this brand so I am excited to try this oil all rounder for hair, face and body.

L'Occitane, I have used some of their products before, which I have loved, this sample is not one of them so I am happy with this and looking forward to trying that.  Beautiful Movements Prime and Create Mixing Medium, looks an interesting one, created my PussyCat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, you can use this as a primer, or mix it with blush and eye shadow etc, a lot you can do with that!

Jelly Pong Pong, another brand I would have tried before, should I have actually seen it around, I haven't, so a nice full-size mascara for me to use here and a fullsize nail polish by Headline Colours, I love the shade, really spring/ summery whilst being subtle too, I will do a NOTD on this ASAP, I havent painted my nails this week as I have been anticipating getting a nail polish in this box.

And of course, in honour of Glossybox's 2nd birthday, a matchbook of 20 nail fails, awesome for my handbag!!

Overall I am really happy with this box and I hope things can only get better as I await June!!

(You can see reviews of these products as I try them or in an empties post no doubt!)

P.S. I just LOVEEE this pink ribbon/ party paper combo.  SUPER CUTE!!

Lush Superbalm Scalp Treatment

Another item from my Lush haul, I have never seen this on my trips to the store so I can only presume it is relatively new.  It was situated pretty close the the Soap and Float Shampoo bar, and what it claims is pretty intriguing and perfect for me!!

What it says on the tin:
Is it a bird?  Is it a plane?  No, its Superbalm!  A super hero blend of ingredients to rescue scalps from scale build up.  If you've got scale that no shampoo has managed to banish, then try this balm packed with super power ingredients to rid you of the pesky menace.

And it pretty much does what it says on the tin!!  I have used this about three times, and it really does work.  I used before each time I washed my hair to begin with, though I am only applying it before every other wash now as I feel it is all I need.  You can also apply the night before to give it plenty of time to work overnight.  you only need a small amount for it to be effective and I don't apply all over, only to the areas which are usually itchy.

Touch wood, I don't actually have crazy scalp build up like I used to, though this is a nice product to have as a rescue remedy should it ever come back with a vengeance.

Its ingredients include extra virgin coconut oil, salicylic acid, rose wax, lavender oil and chamomile blue oil, making it really soothing for the scalp and stops me from itching it.

The wax itself is quite hard to begin with, though the top softens as you break it in.  Also with the tin being metal, if you hold it for a few minutes beforehand, it seems to warm up and soften, making it easier to get out the tin.  the one thing I will say about this product, it is a little hard work to actually get it on your scalp rather than your hair, other than that, it is pretty brilliant!!

Lush Soap and Float Shampoo Bar.

Excuse my hair on the shampoo bar...
(Part of Lush Haul)
Honestly I have read so many great things about this shampoo bar and how good it is at kicking the ass of dandruff, though I bailed on this the first time I went to look at it about 6 months ago as it STINKS, or if im using my latest word, Boffs! HA, though on second attempt, it actually isnt too bad and smells very similar to Polytar (If anyone actually knows what this is??).  I have been using this for just over a week now and it delivers results!!  Im hoping my scalp won't get used to this like it has with others in the past (incase you havent read me whining abut this before).  It is fantastic value for money at £5.25 which give you 80-100 washes out of one bar.  When I first tried this, I took a back up shampoo into the shower as I just could not see how this could work, though rubbing this once between your hands gives you so much lather on your hair its CRAY CRAY!!  Dont be fooled by the little amount of bubbles you have on your hands, just whack it on and the magic starts to happen.  I said to the lady in the shop, 'I suppose I will have to buy a tin for this then?'  She told me, not to bother, she just leaves hers on the side of the bath, but honestly this left a mess on mine.  Though don't waste £2.50 on a tin for this ....finally, ENTER THE STEAMCREAM EMPTY TIN!!!  Perfect size and shape for these .....AWESOMEEEE!!  Though it does get a little stuck inside the tin, which it would in the Lush tins anyway, so I just give it a little blast with the shower head and it loosens it off.  Overall a big thumbs up on this product!!

Little Lush Haul/ Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly

Last week I went to Lush for the first time in a long time, with the intention of treating myself to a nice shower gel or something to that effect, I have just moved house and been showering at the in-laws-to-be's house whilst our bathroom was being refitted, so I wanted something nice and new to go with my new bathroom.... which I got but I also came out with a whole load of other stuff for my hair.  I will review my shower purchase in this post, but stay tuned for separate posts on my other hair items! (This is not a lie this time!)  So without further ado...

I  have decided to start with what I went in for, some sort of shower gel.  I found myself with a shower jelly in the form of Sweetie Pie which was sold to me on smell alone, like most things in Lush.  I couldnt help but think to myself, surely this is going to spend more time on the bottom of my bath than in my hands?  Due to its wobbly nature, and im not going to lie, its hard to keep hold of, like flubber!  Though it is amazing and worth the money at £3.10, whether or not it will last as long as a traditional shower gel, we shall see ...and I will report in an empties post, though I have used it about 5 times so far and it hasnt reduced much in size.  This smells just like 'The Comforter' bubble bar (Mmm, my fave!)  and is part of the deal of a free fresh face mask after bringing back 5 empties!!

Soap and Float Shampoo Bar coming next.....
